Repairing Communities Network

South Yorkshire Climate Alliance introduces a Repairing Communities Network – currently a collaboration between SYCA and Barnsley Civic with the support of BMBC as a key partner, and Energise Barnsley have funded the initial pilot project.

The Repairing Communities Network will support, develop and promote repair cafés and loaning facilities across the local communities of Barnsley. The Network will enable communities to reduce waste, lower living costs, build skills, and take practical local action on climate and sustainability.

A strong local consortium has already been formed, including South Yorkshire Climate Alliance, HW Martin, Barnsley Civic, Barnsley CVS, Barnsley Council , Berneslai Homes and a range of community/grass roots groups. Building on this foundation, we plan to undertake further consultation with both established repair cafés and groups interested in developing repair or loaning facilities, ensuring the Network is shaped by local need and experience. Our first networking event will take place on 14th July in Barnsley, email nicky@southyorkshireclimatealliance.org.uk if you want to join us.

Whilst initially targeting Barnsley groups, over the next quarter we will aim to extend the network to cover Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster. If you have an interested group in these localities, then please do get involved.
