The Greenhill clothes swaps have been running for several years. It started as a group of friends who wanted to have some fun and swap clothes.
We now have over 50 people attending our swaps twice a year. We collect donations before the event but most people bring their clothing donations on the day. We spread out all of the clothes on tables so that people can enjoy rummaging through. We include men’s, women’s, children’s clothes and bric a brac.
It’s a £5 entry fee and people can take as many items as they like. We give refunds if people don’t find something they like. We also provide tea, coffee and cake. Any items left over are collected by a ‘rag man’ for recycling.
The money received from weighing in the leftovers is given to the church towards hire of the room. The £5 entry fee is donated to a chosen charity. In the past these have included foodcycle, the local scout group and mercy ships.
The events have a great atmosphere and are attended by a range of ages. Children enjoy the novelty of trying on different clothes and stomping around in high heels.
